Valentine's Day

The genre conventions of Valentine's Day would be hearts, flowers, chocolates, and letters. When I think of the holiday Valentine's Day the things that come to mind would be romance, love, and the genre conventions that go along with the holiday. One show that uses Valentines Day in one of there episodes and lives up to the genre conventions is Glee. In the Valentine's Day episode they use hearts, chocolates, flowers, go out to fancy dinners, sing romantic songs, and make love. In parts of the episode you could say that its subverted because they do end up having some of the people in the Glee club hang out as friends on Valentine's Day because they do not have significant others too celebrate with. Also, the movie Valentine's Day uses the genre conventions throughout the movie with the actors in the show going to romantic dinners as couples and making love in the movie. But then there are the actors then end up being single and not having a significant other so instead of celebrating with a significant other, they end up hanging out with friends or doing something alone.
