The persuasive genre I found to analyze was an advertisement poster on texting and driving. "Stay Alive. Don't Text and Drive." has a purpose of persuading people that texting and driving is dangerous and can kill you. They took a stance on the topic of texting and driving to get people to agree with the statement made. The audience for this advertisement would target everyone who drives and carries a cellphone. In today's generation cellphones have evolved tremendously, so with more people using there cellphones throughout the day it is important that people know that texting and driving is an issue in society. The advertisers of this poster use the rhetorical appeals of logos, and pathos. Logos is used with logic of texting and driving being an issue in society, and having many stories of people getting killed in accidents because of cellphones t back up their logic. Advertisers also appeal to the audience's sense of pathos by having them tap into their emotions and possibly have them pledge to not text and drive. This advertisement poster utilizes the modes of visual and written, while utilizing the media of digital to get this advertisement spread around the world. The design/ style of the advertisement adds to its purpose by having the words in all capital letters to make the statement important and to have it seem like it is shouting to people. Also placing the cellphone with the red circle crossing over it shows that its not allowed and is dangerous. This genre has adapted into youtube videos and commercials to advertise the importance of texting and driving can kill you. Doing this gives the audience a visual way of seeing how the accidents can happen and how quick a simple text behind the wheel of your car can end your life.
